Wolverines Fall on Strong Second Half by Frostburg State

DOVER, Del. - Frostburg State outscored Wesley College 7-2 in the second half to break a 6-6 halftime score and take a 13-8 win over the Wolverines.

The first half was back and forth on the scoreboard as the teams battled heavy rain and strong wind. Wesley (3-2) used a free position goal by Alyssa Prudente (Hereford, Md./Hereford) with 31 seconds left to send the teams into haltime locked at 6-6.

Three different Bobcats (3-1) scored to open the second and Megan Dent-Carman's score gave Frostburg State a 9-6 lead with 21:56 left in the game. Free position goals by Mia Brocco (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) and Prudente brought the Wolverines to within a goal with 16:45 left in the game, but the Bobcats put the game away with five straight goals to close the afternoon.

Prudente led all players with three goals for Wesley, while Jen Jacobs (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) added a pair of scores. Nina Cornog (Wilmington, Del./Concord) had seven ground balls, while Brooke Bennett (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) had five and forced five turnovers.

Wesley's Alyssa Batty (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) and Frostburg's Tori Butts had eight saves apiece.

Joanna McIntire, Ali Zinnel, Ali Kapustin, Elisabeth Hildebrand and Colleen Hoffman each scored twice for the Bobcats. Marissa Henderson had seven ground balls and four caused turnovers.

The loss snapped Wesley's three game win streak.

The Wolverines will look to rebound at Moravian on March 16.
