No. 2 Salisbury Glides by Virginia Wesleyan to Go 8-0

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. The No. 2 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team saw 11 players score goals on Tuesday afternoon, eight of them scored at least two, as the Sea Gulls took down Virginia Wesleyan College, 21-9.

The game remained close through the opening minutes, Salisbury (8-0, 2-0 Capital Athletic Conference) was only able to open up a 7-5 lead in the first 12 minutes of play. But the Sea Gulls would pull away, stringing together four goals to stretch the lead to 11-5 before heading to halftime up 14-7.

Junior Logan Bilderback (Arnold, Md.) scored all of her three goals in the first half. The three tallies matched freshman attacker Katie Bollhorst (Severna Park, Md.) for team-high honors. Bollhorst's three goals mark a career best for her, as do her three assists and six points.

Freshman goalkeeper Keli Berkman (Salisbury, Md.) got the start in the cage. She made three saves, playing the first 30 minutes of the contest, earning her second win.

The Sea Gulls scored four goals in the first eight minutes of the second half to take a 10-goal lead and cruise to the victory, two of those goals were scored by reigning CAC Player of the Week Roxanne Raab (Fallston, Md.). Senior attacker Kim Cudmore (Bel Air, Md.), sophomore midfielder Alyssa Fowler (Odenton, Md.), sophomore midfielder Allie Wheatley (Cambridge, Md.), sophomore midfielder Amanda Holsclaw (Abingdon, Md.) and freshman attacker Maggie Roundy (Ijamsville, Md.) each scored two goals as well. Roundy also added a pair of assists for a four-point day while junior attacker Trish DiGirolomo (Davidsonville, Md.) had three helpers.

Freshman goalkeeper Caity Coleman (South Huntington, N.Y.) played the second half in goal, turning away two shots by the Marlins (3-4) and allowing just two goals.

The Sea Gulls will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they host No. 1 Franklin & Marshall University at Sea Gull Stadium. The game, which will be a rematch of last year's national championship game won by the Diplomats in the overtime, will begin at 1:00 p.m.
