No. 20 Brown Pulls Upset of No. 14 Harvard
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Jeff Cohen and Terry White each scored four goals, and Harry Krieger made nine saves, but the 14th-ranked Harvard men's lacrosse team fell to No. 20 Brown by a score of 13-11 before 1,705 fans at Harvard Stadium Saturday afternoon. Alex White won six faceoffs for the Crimson, which drops to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the Ivy League.
After grabbing the game's first goal on a shot by Dean Gibbons early on in the first quarter, Harvard struggled for the remainder of the first quarter, as Brown (3-1, 1-0 Ivy League) went ahead, 5-1, after the first 15 minutes. In the second, the trio of Cohen, Kevin Vaughan and Terry White found the back of the net, as the Crimson cut the deficit to three goals, 7-4, at halftime.
In the third quarter, Travis Burr connected with White for a goal at 8:30, as Harvard moved within two, 7-5. The Bears, however, netted four of the next five scores to regain a five-goal advantage, 11-6. With time winding down in the quarter, Jeff Molinari notched a goal off a turnover, and Cohen added a score in the early stages of the fourth, making it 11-8.
After Brown's Andrew Feinberg ended Harvard's two-goal run at 9:58, Cohen and White combined to score the next three goals, pulling the Crimson within one, 12-11, with only 2:08 to play. With time winding down, Feinberg tallied his fourth goal of the game with 53 seconds left on the clock.
Harvard held the final count in shots, 39-32, while the Bears owned the edge in ground balls, 35-24, and faceoffs won, 16-11. Brown also scored the only man-up goal of the game, going 1 for 4, while Harvard was held scoreless on one chance.
The Crimson remains at home to host Dartmouth Saturday, March 27 at 3:00 p.m.

The Bears held a 7-4 lead at the half and the Crimson chipped away to pull to within two goals of the Bears, 7-5, with 8:30 left in the third quarter.
Brown scored four of the next five goals, one each by Parker Brown and Schlesinger and two by junior David Hawley, his second giving the Bears an 11-6 advantage with 2:51 to play in the third quarter.
Harvard made a run at the Bears with the last goal of the third quarter and another to open the fourth quarter to pull to within 11-8 of the Bears. Feinberg's third goal of the game gave the Bears a four-goal advantage once again with 9:58 left in the game.
