Le Moyne Stops La Salle Comeback, Takes Win in OT

Also having a pair of goals against Le Moyne was senior Jill Davis. With her two goals, that makes it the sixth consecutive game in which she's scored multiple times. Sophomores Rachel Baker and Allison Herman also added a goal a piece in the effort, while Nora McGurkin picked up an assist.

La Salle fell behind by four goals less than half way through the first half. Le Moyne scored on three free position shots within the opening 13 minutes, inlcuding one by junior Mia Valletta who scored back-to-back goals during that frame to get the Dolphins out to a 5-1 lead.

The four-goal deficit triggered McKee to begin a productive afternoon. Over the course of the next five minutes, McKee struck for two straight goals to bring the Explorers back within two.

Shortly after, sophomore Allison Herman came up with her first goal of the season to place La Salle only a goal behind the Dolphins.

Valletta continued to be an offensive force for Le Moyne in the first half, as she tallied her third goal of the day after receiving a pass from sophomore Brittany Brigandi

Before halftime, Davis picked up an unassisted goal, but it was quickly responded to by junior Nerissa Barzee. Her goal maintained Le Moyne's lead at a two-goal advantage when the teams went into the intermission.

When the second half began, the Explorers didn't lose any of their fight and they continued to chip away at Le Moyne's lead. McDermott got the Explorers back within a goal to adjust the score to a 7-6 Dolphin-lead less than four minutes into the second stanza.

Moments later, Brigandi decided to take it upon herself to keep the Explorers out of reach by putting up two straight goals.

Stefany McKee went on to mimick Brigandi's doing, putting up back-to-back goals herself to trim Le Moyne's three-goal lead back to one.

Already with three goals and an assist on the day, Brigandi struck one more time for the Dolphins, before Rachel Baker and Lauren McDermott picked up a goal a peice.

The Explorers finally conquered the hold Le Moyne had on them all day on McDermott's second goal of the day.

In overtime the Dolphins assured the Explorers that they would never get ahead once Jackie Lunbard racked up the game-winner for Le Moyne in the extra session.

La Salle closes out its non-conference slate with a 4-4 record and now looks forward to Atlantic 10 Conference play. The Explorers will have nearly a week to recover from their loss to Le Moyne before returning to McCarthy Stadium on Friday to host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies at 6:30 p.m.
