Alvernia Lacrosse Storms Past Cedar Crest

Allentown, Pa. (Mar. 2, 2010) - Alvernia University (3-2) scored 15 first-half goals and for the third time this season got at least three goals each from four different players in an 18-8 win over Cedar Crest College (1-2) Monday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Cedar Crest.

Felicia Sippel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert), Allison Bainbridge (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove), and Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) all scored first-half hat tricks as the Crusaders jumped out to a 15-0 lead at halftime. Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) netted Alvernia's first goal of the second half to complete her hat trick.

Jenn Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) made four saves to keep the Falcons off the board in the first half and made four more in the second. Czarnecki earned the win in her first start of the season.

Cedar Crest got on the board with the first goal of the second half before three straight from the Crusaders made it 18-1. The Falcons followed with the last seven goals of the game over the final 15 minutes for the 10-goal final.

Alvernia returns to the conference schedule on Wednesday at Wilkes University.
