Cabrini Drops Tough Decision on the Road at Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. The Cabrini women's lacrosse team played its third of three straight non-conference contests Tuesday afternoon, suffering a 10-8 loss at New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opponent Rowan University. Senior attack Amanda Alexandrowicz (Ridley, Pa./Ridley HS) scored four goals and eclipsed the 200-point plateau for her career in the loss.

Alexandrowicz becomes the second current Cavalier to reach 200 career points, joining fellow senior Erin Nollen (231) (West Chester, Pa./Henderson HS). Alexandrowicz has totaled 202 points on 168 goals and 34 assists in 57 career games.

Junior attack Jamie O'Hanlon (Springfield, Pa./Springfield Delco HS) recorded three points against Rowan, pairing two goals with one assist. Senior midfielder Lynda Kaufmann (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester HS) notched two points on one score and one helper.

Junior midfielder Kristen Vernon (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East HS) chipped in one point with one goal.

Senior goalkeeper Kate Schmid (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's HS) played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Cavaliers, posting 10 saves. Schmid also led the Blue & White with 11 groundballs.

Cabrini trailed 5-3 at halftime. After O'Hanlon opened the contest with her first goal of the game less than eight minutes in, the Profs responded with three unanswered tallies.

Alexandrowicz cut the Cavaliers deficit to two goals just before intermission with her second score of the half.

The Blue & White twice pulled within one goal in the opening 11 minutes of the second half. O'Hanlon notched her second marker of the game at the 28:35 mark before Alexandrowicz found the back of the cage with 19:44 remaining.

Rowan countered with three straight goals over the next six minutes to secure a four-score cushion, 9-5, with less than 12 minutes remaining.

Cabrini made one last push after Alexandrowicz keyed a 3-1 run down the stretch. Kaufmann trimmed the Cavaliers' deficit to two goals, 9-7, on a free-position shot, before Vernon deposited a goal with 1:23 left on the clock.

Senior attack Alayna Morris led the Rowan offense with four points on four goals. Junior midfielder Alli Dickey tallied three points with three goals.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kerry Pehnke totaled six saves in the win.

Cabrini (2-4, 1-0) resumes its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) regular season schedule at home Wednesday, March 24 versus the College of Notre Dame. Game time against the Gators is set for 4:00 p.m.
