Sullivan Helps No. 6 NYIT Power Past Molloy in ECC play
Old Westbury, NY (March 24, 2010) – NYIT senior Matt Sullivan (West Islip, NY) recorded a game high six points, scoring three goals and dishing out three assists, to lead the men's lacrosse team past Molloy 19-7 this afternoon in East Coast Conference action. The win improves the Bears to 5-1 on the season and in the league, while Molloy drops to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Bears came out firing in the first quarter, taking a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of action on a goal from senior Austino Carino (Huntington, NY) and consecutive scores from Sullivan. The Bears led 6-0 after the first quarter, and Amengual opened the second quarter with back-to back goals to make it an 8-0 lead.
Senior Mike Palmer's unassisted score with just over eight minutes remaining gave the bears their largest lead of the game, 9-0. Molloy's Matt Dolan closed out the second quarter with three consecutive scores to cut the bears lead to 9-3 at the half
