Centenary Routs Rosemont to Go 4-0 for First Time Ever

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (March 24, 2010) The Centenary women's lacrosse team is 4-0 for the first time in program history after a 24-1 win over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Rosemont (0-3, 0-2 CSAC), Wednesday in Hackettstown, N.J. With the win, the Lady Cyclones improved to 1-0 in conference action.

CC outshot the Ravens, 44-8, and grabbed 48 groundballs to RC's 21. Rosemont recorded 25 turnovers, including 15 forced by the Cyclones, who won 19 draw controls while RC tallied seven.

Centenary received balanced scoring, as eight Cyclones found the back of the net. Seniors Megan Mars (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Kiti Ovaskainen (Helsinki, Finland/Vaskivuoren Lukio) and sophomore Danielle Bay (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) tallied five goals apiece and freshman Allie Swartz (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) scored three.

Sophomore Kellie Dugan (Branchburg, N.J./Immaculata) recorded two goals and freshmen Nicole Judd (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette Senior) and Brianna Gluck (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Twp.) netted one apiece.

Senior goalie LeslieAnn Pritchard (Port Byron, N.Y./Port Byron) tallied three saves and one groundball. Mars, Ovaskainen and Swartz grabbed six groundballs apiece while Swartz and freshman Alysia Pinkerton (Frenchtown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) led the team with three caused turnovers each. Ovaskainen and Bay each finished with a team-best five draw controls.

Centenary scored five goals in the first four minutes of the game, including two by Ovaskainen, who along with Bay and Mars recorded a hat trick in the first half as the Cyclones took a 15-0 lead into halftime, before going on to win by 23.

CC returns to action on Saturday, March 27, with a road CSAC contest at Neumann at 1:00 p.m.
