Manhattanville Drops Decision to Trinity

PURCHASE, N.Y. Despite 11 saves from senior netminder Andrew Predun (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.), the Manhattanville men's lacrosse team fell to NESCAC powerhouse Trinity College, 10-2, in a non-conference game at GoValiants.com Field on Thursday afternoon.

Manhattanville struggled to begin the contest, as the Bantams scored the game's first six goals and took a commanding 6-1 lead heading into the locker room. Manhattanville got their only goal of the first half with two minutes remaining, when freshman Matt Corey (Merrimack, N.H.), found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season. The Bantams outshot the Valiants 17-11 in the first half, while both team's killed both man-up opportunities by the Bantams.

In the second half, the Valiants got on the board five minutes into the quarter as sophomore Joey Daly (Mahopac, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the season. The Bantams kept the pressure on the Valiants the remainder of the contest, scoring four more times before the Valiants went to bench and replaced Predun with freshman Dom Poletto (Denver, Colo.). The Valiants erased both man-up opportunities for the Bantams in the second half, while Trinity did the same. The Bantams outshot the Valiants, 37-21, in the contest.

Leading the Bantams in scoring was Michael Ritter with three points on two goals and one assist. Kevin Looby and Max Alderman each scored a pair of goals, while Greg Brennan, Gardie Ashforth and Steve Manning scored single goals. The goaltending duo of Peter Johnson and Dominic Piselli made a combined seven saves, with Johnson stopping five shots for the victory.
