Penn State Abington Falls to SUNY Cobleskill

March 26, 2010 Abington, PA - The Penn State Abington Men's Lacrosse team hosted SUNY Cobleskill in the first conference game of the season for both teams. The Fighting Tigers beat the Nittany Lions by a score of 3-13 at Huntingdon Road Fields in Abington, PA. SUNY Cobleskill improves to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the NEAC, while Penn State Abington falls to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

SUNY Cobleskill got things going as they scored first on an unassisted goal by freshman Matt Pelligrini (Copiague, NY/Copiague) a minute into the game. The Fighting Tigers were then able to score the next 8 goals before the Nittany Lions could get on the board.

Penn State Abington scored their first goal of the game with 19 seconds left in the second period on an unassisted by freshman Pat Gillespie (Philadelphia, PA/Father Judge).

The Fighting Tigers scored the next two goals before the Nittany Lions scored again by sophomore Chris Calhoun (Bensalem, PA/Archbishop Ryan) assisted by Gillespie.

SUNY Cobleskill scored the 12th goal of the game 2 minutes into the 4th period. Penn State Abington scored their final goal of the game on an unassisted goal freshman Brian Schwitters (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan), who stole the ball from SUNY Cobleskill in front of their net. That goal was Schwitter's first career collegiate goal.

The Fighting Tigers scored last on an unassisted goal by Pelligrini with 17 seconds to go in the game to win the game 13-3.

Penn State Abington travels to Aurora, NY for another NEAC conference game against Wells College. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
