Maine-Farmington Tops Green Mountain in NAC Play
FARMINGTON, Maine -- Jess Allen (Mexico, ME), Amie Daniels (Lewiston, ME) and Ashley Roderigue (Belgrade, ME) each notched a hat trick and an assist as the University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse team opened North Atlantic Conference East Division play with a 12-5 win over Green Mountain College today at Prescott Field.
The Beavers (2-2 overall) are scheduled to host Thomas College in NAC East action Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The Eagles (2-2, 0-1) are slated to visit Castleton State College Tuesday for a 4:00 p.m. game.
The two teams were tied at 3-3 at halftime, but the Beavers netted five unanswered markers over the first part of the second half. Allen scored twice during the stretch.
A four-goal flurry over a 2:36 span (8:42-6:06) later in the frame helped Farmington pull away for the win. Daniels had two goals and Allen added a goal and assist during the run.
Following the aforementioned trio, Jessie LaCasse (Barnstable, MA), Nateasha Ouellette (Lewiston, ME) and Anna Rerrick (South Portland, ME) each scored a goal for the Beavers.
Deanna Vigliotta (Wells, ME) earned the victory in her first collegiate start for Farmington. The freshman made one save as the Beavers outshot the Eagles 36-10.
Bryanna Astor (Milltown, NJ) and Amanda Malin (Barrylakes, NJ) each scored a pair of goals for Green Mountain, while Maggie Scherer (Hamel, MN) had a goal and an assist.
Kelsy Allan (Jupiter, FL) stopped 12 shots in the loss.
