Centenary Tops Neumann to Win Record Fifth Straight

ASTON, Pa. (March 27, 2010) The Centenary women's lacrosse team continued its best start in program history, improving to 5-0 with a 20-12 win over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) foe Neumann, Saturday in Aston, Pa. With the win, the Lady Cyclones (5-0, 2-0 CSAC) avenged last year's 12-11 loss to the Knights (2-7, 1-2 CSAC).

Centenary received nine points from senior Kiti Ovaskainen (Helsinki, Finland/Vaskivuoren Lukio), who tallied five goals and four assists. Fellow classmate Megan Mars (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) scored a game-high seven goals and also recorded an assist and sophomore Danielle Bay (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) found the back of the net six times. Senior goalie LeslieAnn Pritchard (Port Byron, N.Y./Port Byron) stopped a career-high 14 shots in the victory.

Centenary trailed, 2-0, before sophomore Dawn Williams (Bedminster, N.J./Bernardsville) scored twice to tie the contest. CC ended the half on an 11-3 run to take an 11-5 lead at halftime. The Lady Cyclones started the second half with a 4-1 run to take a 15-6 edge before holding on to win by eight.

CC returns to action on Tuesday, March 30, with a home game against non-conference foe Misericordia at 3:00 p.m.
