Western Region Players of the Week (March 29)

This week we examine a red-hot attacker from Colorado, a talented goalie in the desert, and a well-rounded midfielder from the Pacific Northwest.

Kellen Miller, Attack, Air Academy (CO)

The senior attackman had a hot hand in both of Air Academy's wins last week. In an 8-7 win over Bountiful (UT) he had two goals and followed that performance with six goals in a 15-6 win over Coeur d'Alene (ID) capping off an impressive week.

Henry Schoonmaker, Midfield, Lincoln (OR)

There were not many things Schoonmaker didn't do this past weekend at the Northwest Invitational in Seattle. The do-it-all-midfielder had seven points (6 goals, 1 assist) in the Cardinals 15-9 victory over defending Washington state champion Issaquah (WA). Then in a 12-11 defeat to Mercer Island (WA) he tallied 5 goals and 11 groundballs making his case for arguably the best player at the Invitational this past weekend.

Jawad Shahbandar, Goalie, Hamilton (AZ)

The Huskies picked up their first win this past week and their goalie was a big reason why. In his squad's 12-5 win over Desert Mountain (AZ), Shahbandar posted 19 saves in securing the Huskies their first win.
