Western/Midwestern Games of the Week, April 2-8

Teams will rack up the travel miles this week, as cross-country showdowns take place in California, Maryland, Missouri and Colorado. It's a great time to see which states stand out this high school lacrosse season.

April 2

Centennial (ID) vs. Pleasant Grove (UT)
Pleasant Grove faces a rare out-of-state opponent in the midst of a tough stretch in their season. Meanwhile, the Patriots look impressive early in the season and will try to grab a big win.

Wheat Ridge (CO) vs. Torrey Pines (CA)
The Farmers travel out of state again this year to California to take on the Falcons in their second game in as many days. Each squad is a darkhorse in their respective state and undefeated early this year, but bragging rights are at stake in this must-see game. Keep an eye on the best young attack unit in the state which suits up for Torrey Pines.

April 3

Coronado (CA) vs. McDonogh (MD)
One of the best teams in the Golden State heads east to prove they can play with the perennial powerhouses of the east coast. The Islanders have stumbled out of the gate with two straight losses but Kodie Englehart has to be accounted for by the Eagles.

Mullen (CO) vs. Fort Collins (CO)
Two lacrosse powerhouses in Colorado meet in this early season match-up, and it will be a dogfight. Fort Collins is very deep and has plenty of weapons on offense with Andrew Kurth and Jack Burke while Mullen will be looking to come back with a vengeance after a tough stretch of games in Texas.

April 6

Our Lady-Good Counsel (DC) vs. Poway (CA)
The Falcons take a three-game road trip to the Golden State to tackle Poway and see how they match up with some of the best teams across the country. The Falcons' strength is their experienced midfielders while the Titans have a solid junior class with Harry Donahue and Conor Sanit providing scoring from the attack.

April 7

Bishop's School (CA) vs. Santa Fe Christian (CA)
An early season rivalry game will be great opportunity to watch two league foes square off in California. Last season the Knights defeated Santa Fe Christian twice. Both teams rely on their stingy defenses to win games, led by the Knights' Jon Haeling.

April 8

Bellarmine Prep (CA) vs. Rockhurst Jesuit (MO)
The Bells have emerged this season as one of Northern California best squads and will have a full week of rest before they clash with the perennial power from Missouri. Rockhurst has plenty of talent especially in their junior class. But not to be outdone are the Bells, who have two excellent juniors to carry the load offensively in Austin Pridham and Mac Whims.

Eden Prairie (MN) vs. Columbine (CO)
The Eagles open their season with their only out-of-state match-up this year. Look for junior midfielder and Georgetown recruit Mitch Hugdahl to showcase his skills in the Centennial State.
