Woodard Sets Mark in Greensboro Win Over Randolph

Greensboro, NC -- Layne Woodard had five points and set a new Pride mark for single season draw controls as Greensboro College defeated visiting Randolph College, 22-0, at Pride Field on Wednesday. The Pride improved to 8-3, while Randolph dropped to 0-5.

Woodard (3 goals, 2 assists) tied for point honors with Toni Battaglia (Palm Beach Gardens, FL/Jupiter) (2 goals, 3 helpers). Woodard won seven draws and betters her total of 93 that led the NCAA's Division III in 2009. Melissa Gallaher (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) recorded a team-high four goals for The Pride.

Greensboro led in shots (39-4), draws (18-5) and held a 17-0 edge at halftime. Wildcat goalie Catherine Allen made 10 saves. GC's Jessica Catanzano (Seaford, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) stopped three RC shots.

The 22 goals scored by The Pride is one short of the program record. GC hosts NC Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
