WINGATE, N.C.-Freshman attack Bobby Murray (Miami, Fla.) scored a season-high four goals to lead the St. Andrews Presbyterian College men's lacrosse team to an impressive 11-4 victory at Wingate University on Wednesday afternoon.

With the score tied 2-2 in the second quarter, Murray scored three consecutive goals in a three-minute flurry to propel the Knights to the victory. St. Andrews (3-8 overall) snapped a two-game skid after defeating the Bulldogs (4-8) for the first time since the 2007 season.

The Knights defense has started to click on all cylinders over the last two road games, holding its foes to under 10 goals for the first two times all season including a season-best four goals against on Wednesday. SAPC was able to string together six unanswered goals as the Knights defense held Wingate without a goal for a 33-minute stretch.

Junior goalkeeper Patrick Wade (New Windsor, N.J.) only needed to make four saves to record his first win of the season. Wade got plenty of offensive support as a trio of Knights scored twice including senior Kyle Carnaggio (Pasadena, Md.), junior Michael Thomas (Stevensville, Md.), and sophomore Dave Taylor (Jarrettsville, Md.).

Wingate held a slim 2-1 after 15 minutes before St. Andrews rallied with all four goals scored in the second quarter. Taylor tied the game for the second and final time at the 13:02 mark before Murray posted the natural hat trick with three straight goals midway through the second quarter.

Carnaggio tallied both of his goals in the first five minutes of the second half while Murray capped a 3-1 third quarter for the visitors with a last second goal as St. Andrews built an 8-3 lead heading into the final frame. The Knights once again outscored the Bulldogs 3-1 in the fourth to extend their final margin of victory to seven goals.

St. Andrews reached the 10-plus goals scored plateau for the third time this season (all wins).

Freshman Riley Fink (University Park, Md.) had a game-high three assists as the Knights assisted on seven of 11 goals scored. Thomas, junior Harrison Young (Upperville, Va.), sophomore Chris Michela (Oak Hill, Va.), and freshman Andrew Pike (Dublin, Ohio) all dished out one helper.

Fink added a goal to go along with his three assist as he tied Murray with four points on the day. Pike, who won a season high 12 of 17 face-offs, collected a game-high nine ground balls.

SAPC held a 31-24 shot advantage and a 40-37 ground ball edge. The Knights also won 13 of 18 face-offs.

St. Andrews will host Conference Carolinas rival and No. 4 nationally ranked Limestone College in its home finale on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
