No. 5 College of New Jersey Doubles up FDU-Florham

Madison, NJ ... The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team extended one streak, while ending another as the Lions doubled up host FDU-Florham on Thursday, 20-10. The win pushed TCNJ winning streak to six straight to open the season, while they also snapped FDU-Florham's five-game winning streak.

The game also marked the third time this season the Lions have eclipsed the 20-goal mark.

TCNJ, which is ranked fifth, has another tough game at the end of the week, when they host sixth-ranked Gettysburg College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The game is a rematch of last year's NCAA quarterfinal contest that saw the Bullets escape Ewing with a 9-8 win over the Lions.

The Lions got off to a solid start scoring seven of the game's first eight goals as sophomore Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) notched three of those goals and sophomore Sara Keating (Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair) scored twice during that run.

TCNJ never trailed as they turned that early run into 12-6 halftime lead.

The Devils made a push right out of the game in the second half and closed the deficit to 14-9, but TCNJ finished just as strong as it started with a 6-1 run to remain undefeated.

Mitchell had a big game with five goals and an assist, while junior Ali Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) tallied four times with one helper. Keating had her second straight big game with four goals and one assist as the sophomore now has 11 goals in the last two games.

Senior Lisa Seldeen (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) added even more offense as she scored three times and dished out three assists, and Kathleen Notos (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) had a multiple-point game with two goals and one assist.

The Lions were dominant in free-position shots in the game as they converted on eight of their 11 attempts.
