Nolen Breaks Records in Pride Win Over Bishops

Greensboro, NC -- Ashley Nolen set new single record for assists and points as Greensboro College defeated NC Wesleyan, 24-3, on Saturday at Pride Field. Nolen had one goal and 10 assists and set new program benchmarks for assists and points (11). GC improved to 10-3 and 5-1 in the USA South. NCWC is now 1-9-1-5.

Fourteen of GC's tallies were assisted. Toni Battaglia (Palm Beach Gardens, FL/Jupiter) added 7 goals and 2 helpers. Kendra Allbritton (Lake Mary, FL/Lake Mary High) and Melissa Gallaher (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) both netted 4 goals for Greensboro. Layne Woodard ( East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) had 11 draws, 3 goals and dished one assist.

The halftime score was 15-3. Sarah Matulich scored twice for the Bishops. GC had 35 shot to 3 for NCWC. Wesleyan keeper Sacejewia Evans had 5 saves for the visitors.

The 24 goal total was also a new single-game record for The Pride. Greensboro reached the 10-win plateau for the first time since 2007 and the fifth overall (program was started in 1993). It's also the most wins for Coach Charlotte Dixon, who is in her third year leading the team.

GC next hosts Ferrum College on April 7.
