Eastern Region Players of the Week, April 5
By Ryan Rohde
This week we look at a red-hot attacker in Northampton, a New York state goalie leading his team against stiff competition, and a Maryland player who accounted for nearly three-quarters of his team's offense last weekend.
Wade Korvin, Attack, Archbishop Spalding (MD)
Korvin and the Cavaliers used a 7-0 run in the second half to top Gilman 14-11. The attackman tallied seven points on five goals and two assists in the win. The Cavs beat Glenelg 6-5 in OT and Broadneck 11-5 over the weekend, and now face McDonogh on Tuesday.
Charles Cronin, Attack, Northampton (MA)
Cronin was instrumental in Northampton's 10-8 win over Westfield. The attackman accounted for 70 percent of the offense, netting seven goals. Northampton moves to 2-0 on the season.
Chris Longo, Goalie, Somers (NY)
Somers came up just short of knocking off one of the best teams in Ney York, St. Anthony's, falling 10-7. Much of the reason for the tight affair was the 19 saves turned in by Chris Longo. Somers now faces another tough opponent in Ridgefield (CT) on Thursday.
