#6 Stonehill Extends Streak to Five with Win over Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. No. 6 Stonehill extended its winning streak to five games with a 19-3 win over the Bentley University women's lacrosse team Tuesday night in Northeast-10 Conference action. Junior Hannah Anderson led the way for the Skyhawks with five goals and two assists.

The pace of the game was slow early on, with just four goals scored in the first 15-plus minutes of action. Sophomore Megan Wiggins (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro) gave Bentley a 1-0 lead just under six minutes into the game. Stonehill's Sam Lynott knotted the game up at the 21:53 mark.

Sophomore Sarah Galligan scored a man-down goal to give Stonehill a 2-1 lead with 18:00 remaining, and freshman Kelsey Reilly followed that up with a goal at the 14:18 mark.

A little less than seven minutes passed before another goal was scored, and it went Stonehill's way off the stick of Lynott. That was the first off three Skyhawk goals in a span of 1:45, giving them a 6-1 lead. Stonehill scored twice more before sophomore Maureen Fields (Pittsfield, Mass./Pittsfield) found the back of the net for the Falcons with 47 seconds left in the half, making the score 8-2.

Stonehill, however, struck twice more before the half was over, including a goal by freshman Heather Sullivan with just one second remaining.

Freshman Alex Carney (Providence, R.I./The Wheeler) scored the lone goal of the second half for Bentley 59 seconds in.

Stonehill improves to 6-1 with the win and 4-1 in NE-10 play, while the Falcons fall to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Bentley is back in action on Thursday night at Merrimack.
