Maine-Farmington Downed by Johnson State

FARMINGTON, Maine -- Erik Tillberg (Randolph, VT) scored six goals and dished out an assist and Billy Noyes (Boston, MA) supplied five goals and three assists as Johnson State College downed the University of Maine at Farmington men's lacrosse team 16-2 in North Atlantic Conference action in the Beavers' first home game at Prescott Field.

The Beavers (1-3 overall, 0-3 in the NAC) are scheduled to host Lyndon State College Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Badgers (1-3, 1-2) are slated to visit Maine Maritime Academy Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Following Tillberg and Billy Noyes, Steve Noyes (Barre, VT) and Alex Petti (East Greenwich, RI) each had a goal and an assist for Johnson State, while Justin Connolly (Jeffersonville, VT), Kaleb Mayhew(St. Albans, VT) and Isaac Williams (Cambridge, MA) each tallied a goal.

Ethan Fletcher (Waterville, VT) and Patrick Hurley (Goffstown, NH) each netted a goal for the Beavers, who were outshot 64-17 in the contest. Rylan Cates (Camden, ME) assisted on Hurley's tally.

Branden Sawyer (East Greenwich, RI) made nine saves for the Badgers. Petti recorded 14 groundballs in the win with Billy Noyes grabbing 13 and Steve Noyes 12. Matt Burnham (Lowell, MA) and Travis Melick (Chatham, MA) each caused three turnovers.

Matthew Nutter (Swampscott, MA) made 25 saves for Farmington. Fletcher and Nathan Webb (Westford, MA) each collected 10 groundballs

Billy Noyes netted five goals and Tillberg tallied four over the first two periods as the visitors amassed a 10-0 advantage. Fletcher's man-up tally to open the third quieted the Badgers and Farmington trailed 12-2 heading into the fourth, but Johnson State scored four times in the final quarter to take the 16-2 win.
