No. 7 Roanoke Downs Endicott with Strong Second Half

DARIEN, CT -- Roanoke came alive in the fourth quarter to pull away from Endicott, 14-10 at Darien High School on Sunday afternoon. The Maroons, ranked #7 in the country, improved to 12-2 on the year while the Gulls, which received votes in the USILA Top-20 Poll, dropped to 7-5.

The Maroons, who have won 12 games for only the eighth season in program history, ended Endicott's five-game win-streak as the Gulls were dealt their second-biggest loss of the season. It was the first-ever meeting for Roanoke against The Commonwealth Coast Conference school. The Maroons are 2-0 against TCC Conference schools, with its other win coming in 2005 against Roger Williams, 24-8.

Roanoke, now 82-21 (79.6%) over the last six years up to this point, have won its fourth-straight game. With a win over Guilford on Wednesday, the Maroons can clinch their 17th ODAC regular season title.

With the score tied at 5-all at the half, the Maroons came alive in the third period, scoring five of the seven third-quarter goals to go up, 10-7, heading into the final period.

The Gulls couldn't come within two goals in the final 15 minutes, as the Maroons outscored Endicott, 4-3 to win their first game of the season at a neutral site. Roanoke is now 6-0 at neutral sites during the regular season since 2003.

Matt Quinton, a former Commonwealth Coast Conference player from New England College, led the Maroons with four goals. He now has 148 career goals, 127 at Roanoke, which places him seventh on the all-time list. He also moved up to 18th on the career scoring list with 161 points.

Pat March scored two goals to put him sixth all-time in scoring (222pts) and fourth on the career goals list with 143. He needs two more to pass Andy Bonasera '03 for third on that list.

The men return to action this Wednesday, April 14, when they host ODAC-foe Guilford. The Maroons are 26-2 all-time against the Quakers, winning the last 18 meetings since 1992. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Kerr Stadium.
