Darke Scores Seven, But Shepherd Loses to Lake Erie

PAINESVILLE, Ohio Sophomore Kaitlin Drake (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) scored a career-high seven goals for the Rams, but host Lake Erie recorded a 21-15 win over Shepherd University in women's lacrosse action at Lake Erie on Sunday.

Meredith Howell had 10 goals and three assists, while Brittany Rabuano added four goals to lead Lake Erie (4-2).

Freshman Nicole Ruane (Sykesville, MD/Century) added two goals and four assists, while sophomore Carly Jones (Hagerstown, MD/Smithsburg) tallied three goals and an assist.

Sophomore Cara Parks (Westminster, MD/Westminster) had a goal and an assist, while junior Lindsay Russell (Emmitsburg, MD/Catoctin), while freshman Brooke Jones (Odenton, MD/Arundel) each tallied single goals.

Junior goalkeeper Karen Sutphin (Baltimore, MD/Eastern Technical) recorded six saves for Shepherd (2-10), while Brittanie Johnson had 16 saves for Lake Erie.

Lake Erie had a 40-37 advantage in shots while the Rams had a 15-10 edge in ground balls. Both teams were successful on 16 of 17 clears. The game was tied 11-11 at the half.

The Rams return to action next Saturday when they travel to Kenyon (OH) for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
