Crusaders Rout the Visiting Knights

Reading, Pa. (April 15, 2010) - The Crusaders (8-3, 4-3 MAC) earned their fourth conference victory, as they handled this visiting Knights from Arcadia (2-8, 1-7 MAC) 19-4 this evening. Alvernia exploded for 11 goals in the first half and followed that up with eight goals in the second half.

The Crusaders got on the board early with a goal from Felicia Sippel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) less than one minute into the game. Alyssa Verillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) followed that up with another goal less than a minute later. The Crusaders took the 11-0 lead before the Knights struck for a goal of their own with three minutes left in the first half.

The second half was more of the same as Alvernia outshot the visiting Knights 20-6 while outscoring them 8-3.

Verillo led the way with five goals and an assist while Sippel added three and two assists. Sarah George (Westchester, Pa./Westchester Bayard Rustin) added three of her own.

Alvernia will return to action this Saturday when they travel to Lycoming for another MAC match-up
