Kevin Forster collected two goals and four assists while Pat Resch, Christian Cardinal and Nick Cruice each scored two goals to lead La Salle to a 10-8 victory over Georgetown Prep (MD) in the 2nd Annual "Checking for Cancer" Invitational at Haverford School.

The Explorers improved to 7-1 and dropped the Hoyas to 11-3. Georgetown Prep was ranked No. 1 in the country by LaxPower and No. 16 by Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse coming in.

The Explorers scored four straight goals to take a 10-7 lead in the fourth period and held on to avenge a one-goal loss at Georgetown Prep last year when they won their second straight state title.

This year's La Salle team was not originally expected to challenge for a state crown due to the loss of four All-Americans and 10 Division I recruits. But La Salle has won seven straight since losing to powerful Haverford School, 9-6, in the season's first game.

"They made a comeback and beat us in overtime last year, so it was good to get a good finish in the fourth quarter," said Forster, a junior attackman who has committed to Maryland. "Everyone played well throughout and it was a big win to put us back on the map."

Forster said his team has enjoyed the challenge of being an underdog this year after having a mark on their head last season.

"I knew what we had all along and I don't think we got the respect we deserved; and still not yet," he said. "I think we still have a lot to prove."

Goalie John Lawlor had seven saves to gain the win. Steve Kelly and Sean Coleman also scored for La Salle.

"We had each other's backs and showed resilience and that's what we've been looking for, said La Salle coach Bill Leahy. "That''s a nationally ranked team and we hung in there and came back from behind."

Radnor 8, Hatboro-Horsham 7

Derrick Adger (two goals) scored the game-winner with 12 seconds left and Brandan Manderack made a last-second save to give the Red Raiders (6-2) a thrilling win over the Hatters (5-3).

Ryan Lord, Kevin Rudd, Jason Klunder, Peter Bowers and Ryan Buttenbaum also scored for Conestoga, which led, 8-0, until finally allowing a goal by Darien's Case Mathis (three goals, one assist) midway through the third period. The Pioneers were coming off a 10-0 shutout of Lower Merion.

The Blue Wave (4-1) had outscored its first four foes by a whopping total of 58-5.
