No. 4-Ranked Limestone Routs St. Andrews

GAFFNEY, S.C.-The No. 4-ranked Limestone College women's lacrosse team rolled to a 23-4 victory over St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Conference Carolinas action on Sunday at Saints Field. Limestone, who earned the 2010 league regular season title and #1 seed in the upcoming Conference Carolinas tournament, improves to 14-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play. The Knights fall to 5-8 on the season and 3-4 in the league.

This spring's regular season championship is the seventh consecutive season Limestone has claimed the league title, having won it every year since 2004.

Limestone had six goals from Raquel Prager (Seaford, N.Y.), with Renee Albro (Purcellville, Va.), Chelsea Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y.), and Britt Howard (Oswego, N.Y.) scoring four goals apiece. Kelly Oterson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) tallied three assists as Kelly Lalonde (Rochester, N.Y.) and Kaitlyn Liccion (Binghamton, N.Y.) had two assists each.

Katie Ilott (Brooklin, Ontario, Canada) had eight draw controls for Limestone. Chrissy Grogg (Taberg, N.Y.) led the team with three caused turnovers as Erin Growny (Rochester, N.Y.) posted three draw controls and three ground balls. Starting goalkeeper Rashelle McLellan (East Lyme, Conn.) had three saves while Brigid Milchling (Cockeysville, Md.) had three saves during the second half.

Kim McDaniel (Joppa, Md.), Megan Jolly (Waterloo, N.Y.), Victoria Bickett (Louisville, Ky.), and Allie Faulhaber (Apex, N.C.) accounted for St. Andrews' four goals. Jill Donofrio (Elbridge, N.Y.) had three draw controls and three ground balls. Jolly led her team with four draw controls. Goalie Morgan Achilles (Geneva, N.Y.) had 13 saves.

Limestone outshot the visitors 43-13, and won 18 of the game's 29 draw controls. The Saints were a perfect 15-15 in clears while only allowing SAPC 7 of its 20 clear attempts. The Saints also had 25 ground balls to the visitors' 8.

The Saints will compete in the Conference Carolinas tournament next Saturday and Sunday at the Queens Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park in Charlotte, N.C.
