Dominican College Pummels Post

Southbury, CT (4/18/10) -- The Dominican College women's lacrosse team extended their winning streak with five games after defeating host Post University, 20-4, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

Dominican held a 5-1 lead with 19:55 remaining in the first half and entered the intermission with a 12-2 lead. DC continued to dominate the offensive end of the game and tallied their last goal with 7:15 left in regulation en route to the 20-4 victory.

DC outshot the Eagles 33-17 and converted four of five free position shots. Eight different DC players netted a goal in the win.

Junior midfielders Silje Karlsen (Vernon, NJ) and Sarah Kiernan (Saugerties, NY) each led the Lady Chargers with five goals a-piece in the victory, while Karlsen added two assists for a team leading seven points on the day.

Aubree Williams (Great Meadows, NJ) and Amanda Matos (Vernon, NJ) each had a hat trick for Dominican with three goals each and Williams adding an assist.

Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY), Kimberly Nunez (Fair Lawn, NJ), Elizabeth Schmidt (Montgomery, NY) and Carla Gimm (St. Peter's, PA) all had goals in the victory. Schmidt and N'Jameh Philip (Monroe, NY) had the other Lady Charger assists.

Goalie Lindsey Grundfast (Saugerties, NY) made six saves in the victory.

With the victory Dominican improves to 6-8 overall and 5-6 in the CACC.
