16th-Ranked Polar Bears Cool Down Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. - Katie Stewart and Katy Dissinger combined for 10 goals as the Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team took a 15-10 win at Endicott on Sunday afternoon. The 16th-ranked Polar Bears improve to 8-4 and have won seven of their last eight outings. Endicott falls to 11-4 with the loss.

Bowdoin got the scoring started as McKenna Teague gave the Polar Bears a 1-0 lead with a bounce shot in the first 2:01 of game action. Carolyn Gorajek extended the Bowdoin lead to 3-1 before Endicott knotted the game at three goals apiece on back-to-back goals from Kristen Micho and Morgan DeShaw.

The Polar Bears promptly scored the next five goals, including a pair from Dissinger, to stretch its lead to five with just under eight minutes to play in the opening half. The Gulls got three goals back before the half as DeShaw and Micho each tallied scores with Carin Czerniawski adding the other goal to make it an 8-6 game at the break.

Katie Stewart scored the first two goals of the second half for a 10-6 lead before Valerie Feldman stopped the bleeding with her first goal of the day. Stewart and Feldman traded goals and Endicott's Lauren Todd scored on a feed from Kellie Cunningham to make it a two goal game, 11-9.

Stewart scored her fifth goal of the game nearly four minutes later to make it a three goal lead. Michelle Loizzo tallied the last goal for EC with 12:54 remaining but the Polar Bears scored the final three goals of the game, as Dissinger slammed the door shut with back-to-back goals a mere 1:11 apart to send Bowdoin home with a 15-10 non-conference win.

Bowdoin was led by the 12 combined points, including five goals each, from Stewart and Dissinger. Liz Clegg also added a pair of scores while Katie Herter had a goal with a game-high eight groundballs and five draw controls. Tara Connolly picked up the win in net, making seven saves on 21 shots faced.The Gulls were led by three goals from Kristen Micho. Leah Neff suffered the setback, allowing 15 goals while making eight saves.
