Tiffin Holds on to Defeat Shepherd

TIFFIN, Ohio Sophomore Kaitlin Drake (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) scored five goals and freshman Nicole Ruane (Sykesville, MD/Century) added four goals and an assist, but Tiffin University held on for a 14-11 win over Shepherd University in women's lacrosse action at Tiffin on Monday afternoon.

The Dragons were led Kelley Miller with five goals, while Allyn Saling and Ali Quest each added three.

Junior Carly Jones (Hagerstown, MD/Smithsburg) had a goal and an assist for the Rams, while sophomore Melissa Neagle (Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll) tallied a goal and classmate Cara Parks (Westminster, MD/Westminster) notched an assist.

Tiffin had a 10-4 advantage at the half. Shepherd outscored Tiffin, 7-4, in the second stanza.

Junior goalkeeper Karen Sutphin (Baltimore, MD/Eastern Technical) recorded a career-high 14 saves for Shepherd (2-12), while Aimee Leclair had 10 saves for Kenyon (2-13).

Tiffin had a 33-30 advantage in shots, while Shepherd had a 31-26 edge in ground balls.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Frostburg State for a 1:00 p.m. contest in the season finale.
