Dolphins Cruise Past Saint Elizabeth for Fourth Straight Win

New York, N.Y. The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team extended its season long winning streak to four games on Monday night with a 20-3 victory of Saint Elizabeth. Four Dolphins scored at least three goals in the game with Katie Tucci (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) netting six goals and fellow senior Kelly Martin (Stony Point, N.Y.) adding five markers and four assists.

The Dolphins scored the first four goals of the game on Monday and after Saint Elizabeth's Meghan Murray tallied at the 21:23 mark of the first half, the Mount ran off 12 straight goals until Catherine De la Cruz scored with less then 12 minutes left in the contest.

Mount Saint Vincent opened a 12-1 lead at the half on Monday night with Tucci scoring five of her six before the intermission. The Dolphins held the Eagles to just two shots in the opening 30 minutes, outshooting the opposition 19-2.

Tucci added an assist to her six goals for seven points on the night and also added six draw controls, three groundballs and four caused turnovers. Martin added five draw controls to her nine points on the night. With her offensive output on Monday, Martin now stands just 13 points shy of 250 in her career.

Jessie Mitchell (Suffern, N.Y.) and Julia Caro (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) each scored three times in the win and Lauren Perla (Holbrook, N.Y.) found the back of the cage two times for the Dolphins. Mitchell led the team in groundballs with six.

Jackie Horn (Setauket, N.Y.) was rarely tested on the night and only had to make three saves to earn the win. Melinda Levendusky made eight saves in the cage for the Eagles.

Overall in the game, Mount Saint Vincent held a commanding edge in shots at 34-6, but only scooped three more groundballs then did Saint Elizabeth, finishing with 20. The Dolphins were a perfect 8 for 8 in clears and won 21 of the 25 draw controls in the game.

The win improves Mount Saint Vincent to 5-4 overall on the season. The Dolphins will play their final home game of the season on Thursday night when they play host to Kean. Opening draw with the Cougars at LIU-Brooklyn is set for 8:00 p.m.
