Washington College Breezes by Bryn Mawr
BRYN MAWR, PA -- Visiting Washington College built at 13-4 halftime lead en route to an 18-5 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory over host Bryn Mawr College this afternoon. The Shorewomen improved to 7-6 overall and 3-5 in conference play with the win, while the Owls fell to 0-13 and 0-8 with the loss.
Bryn Mawr held an early 3-2 lead before the Shorewomen went seven-goal run to open up a 9-3 advantage on a goal by junior attacker Sarah Cannon (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) off an assist from freshman midfielder/defender Katie Rogers (Annapolis, MD/Elizabeth Seton) with 3:53 to go before the intermission.
Senior midfielder Allie Hanzsche (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) scored four goals to pace the Shorewomen, while sophomore attacker Kalli Parrish (Timonium, MD/McDonogh School) scored three goals and assisted on another. Sophomore attacker Liza Twilley (Salisbury, MD/Salisbury School) added two goals and one assist, freshman attacker Britton Preroff (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) scored two goals, and Cannon and freshman attacker Corinne Ziccardi (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) had one goal and one assist each.
Gabby Marangell led Bryn Mawr with two goals, while Miranda Gordon-Zigel had one goal and one assist.
Washington enjoyed a 42-12 advantage in shots and controlled 17 of the 25 draws in the game.
The Shorewomen return to action tomorrow with a 4:00 p.m. game at Notre Dame (MD).
