No. 5 Maryland Knocks off No. 3 UNC in ACC Semifinal

Maryland increased the lead to 6-2 on an unassisted goal by John Haus, his second of the game, with 10:30 left in the third quarter. Maryland extended its lead to five on an extra-man goal by Grant Catalino, his third tally of the game, off an assist by Ryan Young at 6:29 of the third quarter. Catalino then scored his fourth goal of the game with 2:58 to play in the third quarter off an assist by Dan Burns. The Terps ended the third quarter with an 8-2 lead.

John Haus scored his third goal of the game with 14:20 left in the fourth quarter, his third goal of the day for the Terps. On the ensuing face-off, Brian Farrell scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Maryland face-off man Bryn Holmes.

The Tar Heels finally ended the Maryland run with 12:34 left as Marcus Holman scored an extra-man goal off an assist by Gavin Petracca. The Heels then scored again just 19 seconds later as Thomas Wood scored off a rebound of a shot after Milton Lyles' initial shot was saved by Brian Phipps. The Heels cut the lead to 10-5 at 10:49 when Gavin Petracca scored off an assist by Zander Walters, his first career point.

Maryland stemmed the tide on Grant Catalino's fifth goal of the day off an assist by Ryan Young. The goal came with 9:49 to play in the game. Catalino scored his sixth goal of the game into an empty net with 7:49 to play. Maryland added on another goal with 2:58 as Fran Gormley scored off an assist by Ryan Young after a failed clear by the Tar Heels.

Carolina will play its season regular season finale on Saturday, May 8 at Fetzer Field. It will be Senior Day at Fetzer Field.
