Washington & Jefferson Routs Mount Saint Joseph
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson scored the first 11 goals and upped its school-record victory total to 12 after crushing Mount Saint Joseph 16-4 in women's lacrosse action Saturday at Alexandre Stadium.
The Presidents (12-3) increased their school-record win streak to six games. W&J will now await word on a possible postseason bid after completing its regular-season schedule.
Sophomore defender Brittney Oake (Belle Meade, N.J./Montgomery) fired in five goals to lead the W&J offense. She scored three times in the first five minutes, helping W&J to a 5-0 advantage. W&J led 12-1 at halftime and cruised to the 12-goal triumph.
Oake also assisted on one goal, while junior attacker Courtney Schrock (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) collected six points with three goals and three assists.
Freshman midfielder Brittany Fradkin (Owings Mills, Md./St. Paul's SFG) netted three goals and dished out one assist, while sophomore midfielder Liz Turcik (Ligonier, Pa./Miss Halls School) supplied two goals.
Sophomores Lauren Novak (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) and Joanne Chojecki (Lake View, N.Y./Frontier Senior) rounded out the W&J goal scorers.
Freshman Julia McLellan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) started in goal and made five saves, while junior Amber Kuntz (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) also contributed three saves.
W&J held a 33-12 shot advantage and recorded 14 draw controls, including five by Oake.
