Dominican Runs by AIC to Snap Losing Streak

Hillburn, NY (4/26/10) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team snapped a seven-game losing streak after defeating the visiting Yellow Jackets from American International College, 20-12, this afternoon in a non-conference game held at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

AIC held a 2-1 lead with 8:59 left in the first quarter when the Chargers charged ahead with a 6-1 run to close out the first quarter with a 6-3 lead. DC outscored the Yellow Jackets 6-3 in the second quarter to extend the lead to 12-6 at the intermission.

Dominican used a four-goal third and fourth quarter to outscore AIC 8-6 in the second half for the 20-12 victory.

Junior midfielder Alex Jones (St. Albert, AB) led all scorers with a season high seven goals. Junior Daniel Metoyer (San Diego, CA) led the game with eight points (five goals, three assists), while Jessie Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) netted one goal and tallied six assists for seven points.

Korin Pierce (Middleburg, VA) and Daniel Steigert (Copaigue, NY) each scored two goals, while Connor Lawlor (Neptune City, NJ), Tyler Douglas (St. Albert, AB) and Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY) all netted a goal. Lawlor added three assists, while Andrew Rendine (River Edge, NJ) had an assist in the victory.

Brendan Bonacum (Port Jefferson Station, NY) made eight saves in 47:41 minutes of action, while Andrew Slater (Brookfield, CT) recorded two saves in the final 12:19.

With the victory Dominican improves to 4-10 overall.
