Dutchmen Shut Down By Lycoming

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lycoming held Lebanon Valley scoreless over the first half, as it won, 11-2, in a Middle Atlantic Conference game on Wednesday.

The Dutchmen (2-12, 0-10 MAC) did well to hold the Warriors (10-5, 8-2 MAC) to 11 goals on 36 shots, but the LVC offense managed just two goals on 18 shots and won just four of 16 face-offs.

Ty Fosnacht and Ian Schmid provided the scoring for LVC, with CJ Adams picking up an assist as well. Stephen Romano led Lyco with three goals.

The Warriors held a 5-0 lead at the half despite an 18-5 halftime shots margin, and they scored twice more before Fosnacht got LVC off zero with his goal at 7:16 of the third. Schmid added his goal to open the fourth quarter, but Lyco added three more at the end of the game.

The Dutchmen went 0 for 3 on extra-man attempts, while Lycoming did not convert their lone chance.

Ethan Hilberg made 12 saves in the loss, and also took LVC's only penalty late in the fourth quarter, forcing Colin McKenna to stand in for the final 2:51 of the game (he did not face a shot). Josh Danmyer stopped three to get the win, splitting halves with Ryan Gillen (4 saves).

LVC will play their 2010 finale on Saturday, hosting FDU-Florham at 1:00 p.m.
