Fords Hold off Devils in Centennial First Round
(Haverford, Pa.) - The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team suffered an 11-9 loss to Haverford in the first round of the Centennial Conference playoffs on Wednesday night.
Josie Ferri scored just two minutes in and Perrin Downing put the 'Fords up 2-0 just a minute later.
Lucy West (Bethesda, Md./Holton Arms) scored off a Kara Glazer (Towson, Md./Towson) assist and Alysa Crellin (Little Compton, R.I./Portsmouth Abbey School) tied the game with 22:33 remaining in the half.
Kayleigh Herrick-Reynolds scored three straight to give Haverford a 5-2 advantage. Sophomore Kaity Moore (Chestertown, Md./St. Andrew's) sandwiched a pair of goals around a goal from Alexa Pesce to make the score 6-4 at halftime.
The Red Devils came out of the break and scored three straight to take a 7-6 lead with 25 minutes to play in the game. Glazer scored and assisted Moore before Crellin tallied the go-ahead goal.
Ferri ended a three goal run to put the 'Fords in front, 9-7, with 15:24 remaining in regulation. Abby Larson (Easton, Md./Gunston Day) pulled the Devils within one and Moore tied the game with an assist from Crellin at the 9:01 mark. Ferri tallied an assist and a goal in the final 8:23 for the final of 11-9.
Moore finished with four goals while Crellin tallied two goals, one assist and four draw controls.
Glazer added a goal and two assists, and junior Kelsey Muir (Glen Mills, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) controlled four draws. Junior Jessie Clark (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) made six saves in goal for the Red Devils.
Ferri led Haverford (13-4) with three goals and one assist. Leah Hammerschlag made three saves.
The Red Devils conclude the season 9-6 overall.
