Rally Earns #1 Michigan Win over Spartans, CCLA Title

Freshman attackman Thomas Paras (Lakewood, Ohio/St. Ignatius) notched his first goal of the game under two minutes later as the Wolverines earned their first lead of the game over five minutes into the fourth. After back and forth play for the next seven minutes, Paras added another at 2:55 on a dodge from the left GLE followed by a hard, bouncing shot to give Michigan a little breathing room at 13-11 late in the fourth. The Wolverines controlled possession for the remainder of the contest, killing time in the Spartan zone as the clock wound down to 0:00.

Statistically, Michigan won nearly every category. U-M outshot MSU 46-33, and scooped up a total of 53 groundballs compared to 33 by the Spartans. U-M was 18 of 27 on faceoffs, and cleared the ball at a rate of 14-22, while MSU was solid against the Maize and Blue ride, finishing 14-19. The Maize and Blue scored once on four attempts, while Michigan State finished 2-2.

The Wolverines will be back in action in over a week when they travel to Denver, Colorado and Dick's Sporting Goods Park for opening round action in the MCLA National Championship Tournament on Tuesday, May 11 at 4:00pm. Michigan's opponent is yet to be decided.
