Mercy Falls to Molloy But Finishes Winning First Season

Despite falling to East Coast Conference opponent Molloy College on Wednesday afternoon, the Mercy College women's lacrosse team ended its inaugural season with an overall winning mark of 8-6 (3-4 ECC). The final score in the game was 23-4.

The goal scorers for the Mavericks were Jamie McPartland (North Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale) and Kelsey Sullivan (Mastic, N.Y./Eastport South Manor). McPartland recorded a hat trick in the game, and Sullivan had a goal and an assist. Freshman goalies Lauren Mateja (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) turned aside 18 shots in the game.

Besides the goal scorers, other contributors included Stephanie DiLegge (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and Dana Harjus (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst), who each grabbed a game-high four ground balls. DiLegge also caused two turnovers on defense.
