Yeardley Love: Vigil, Arrangements, Contributions
Hundreds of students, faculty, and staff gathered in Charlottesville at the university amphitheater for a candlelight vigil yesterday evening in honor of Yeardley Love, who was killed earlier this week. President John Casteen urged students to use Love's death as a lesson that "inspires an anger and a sense of outrage" about violence.Love, 22, of Cockeysville, Md. was a member of the University of Virginia women's lacrosse team. She was found dead in her apartment early Monday morning, the apparent victim of a homicide. In custody and charged with first-degree murder is George Huguely, 22, a fourth-year student from Chevy Chase, Md. and a member of the men's lacrosse team.
For a recent, detailed story on the case, see the New York Times web site.
