No. 2 C.W. Post Routs Lake Erie to Close Regular Season

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May, 9, 2010) Sophomore attacker Eddie Plompen (West Islip, N.Y.) registered a game-high eight points on six goals and two assists as No. 2 C.W. Post closed out its regular season schedule with a 26-4 win over Lake Erie College in an East Coast Conference men's lacrosse contest Saturday afternoon on Hickox Field.

C.W. Post improves to 14-1 overall and 9-1 in conference play while Lake Erie, in its first season of Division II competition, falls to 3-10 overall and 1-8 on conference play.

The Pioneers outshot the Storm, 61-15, in the game and held a 61-24 margin in ground balls. Lake Erie got two goals in the third from freshman midfielder Joeyjohn French (Tully, N.Y.).

The Pioneers led 6-1 after the first quarter of play as Plompen and senior midfielder Joe Meo (Sayville, N.Y.) each scored a pair of goals. Lake Erie scored its first goal of the game when freshman attacker Keegan Bal (Coquitlam, British Columbia) fired a shot into the net with 4:28 to play in the first on a pass from freshman midfielder Kyle Larsen (Massillon, Ohio).

The Pioneers go help in the second quarter with another pair of goals from Plompen and junior attacker Nick Coric (Walnut Creek, Calif.) as they shut out the Storm, 9-0, in the quarter to take a 15-1 lead at halftime.

In the fourth quarter, the Pioneers outscored the Storm, 7-1, as junior attacker Vito Minerva (Nesconset, N.Y.) tallied three goals.

Meo and Minerva each had three goals while Coric, sophomore attacker Keith Rodriguez (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Doug Hoch (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) each had two goals. Hoch also assisted on two goals for four points.
