#3 Limestone Loses Heartbreaker at #5 West Chester

West Chester, Pa. - No. 3 Limestone suffered a heartbreaking, 12-11, loss at No. 5 West Chester on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the 2010 NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championships. The home standing Lady Rams scored the game winning goal with only 2 seconds left in regulation on a free position shot.

Limestone finishes its season 18-2, both setbacks by one goal with the other against top-ranked Lock Haven which will face West Chester (18-1) in the semifinals.

Limestone senior Katie Ilot (Brooklyn, Ontario/D. Wilson Secondary) tallied game highs in points with five, assists with three and draw controls at five. Both of her goals on the day came on free position shots in three attempts for a Lady Saints squad that was 4 for 9 on such shots while West Chester was 2 for 4.

Freshman Chelsea Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) tallied a game tying best four goals for Limestone while senior Renee Albro (Purcellville, VA/Louhdon Valley) added three goals and as many draw controls. Freshman Britt Howard (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) and sophomore Racquel Prager (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) scored one goal each.

Defensively for Limestone, senior Chrissy Grogg (Taberg, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) forced a game high four caused turnovers and grabbed a contest tying best three ground balls. In goal, freshman keeper Rashelle McLellan (East Lym, Ct./East Lyme) made 10 saves including six in the second half.

Saturday's loss means that in five national tournament appearances all-time in the 10-year history of the NCAA Women's Division II Lacrosse Championships, the Lady Saints have lost three games by a total of four-goals including a 13-12 loss in the semifinals last year to Lock Haven and in the 2006 semifinals, 10-8, to West Chester.
