Eastern Region Players of the Week, May 17

This week featured a couple of players who carried their teams to a state championship as well as a New Yorker who helped knock off an undefeated squad.

Bennett Gillogly, midfield, Westminster School (GA)
Gillogly netted a hat trick as Westminster beat Lovett, 10-9, and captured the A-AAAA state title. The midfielder's third goal was the game-winner with 4:19 left on the clock. Gillogly garnered second team all-state honors and Westminster captured the program's third state title.

Craig Passenant, attack, Myers Park (NC)
Myers Park captured the first NCHSAA state championship with a 15-11 win over Apex. Passenant tallied five goals as Myers Park built a 12-5 third quarter lead. Passenant was named second team all-state.

James Cathers, attack, Corcoran (NY)
Cathers quarterbacked the offense as Corcoran knocked off previously undefeated Fayetteville-Manlius, 8-6. The attackman scored two goals to go along with four assists. Corcoran improved to 10-3 on the season.
