Western Region Players of the Week, May 17
By Brett Manney
This week, LaxPower highlights a super scorer in Utah, a fantastic performance between the pipes in Colorado, and a clutch goal-scorer in California.
Connor Barlow, Attack, Brighton (UT)
In the state final, Barlow rose to the occasion for his Bengal squad in their 10-7 victory over Park City in the Utah state championship. Barlow displayed his scoring touch, notching four goals and helping Brighton finish the season as undefeated champions.
Chris White, Goalie, Cherry Creek (CO)
White was a brick wall in the Bruins' 11-1 win over Mullen in the Colorado state quarterfinals. The junior net minder turned away numerous Mullen shots like he has done all season in allowing fewer than six goals a game. With the steady White between the pipes the Bruins now turn their attention to Kent Denver in the state semifinals.
John Brunett, Midfield, Palo Alto (CA)
With the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League championship at stake, Brunett was the hero for Palo Alto. In sudden death overtime, Brunett scored his fifth and most important goal for Palo Alto in their 10-9 victory over Mountain View. The relentless midfielder was all over the field for the Vikings, controlling face-offs and helping the Vikings claim the championship.
