Western Region Players of the Week - June 1

By Brett Manney

This week we look at a California midfielder guiding his team to a championship, a junior attacker coming up big in the post-season, and a red-hot attacker in Washington state getting noticed with his flair for the dramatic.

Ryan Deal, Attack, Bellevue (WA)
The stellar attackman was the hero in the Wolverines 8-7 overtime victory against Mercer Island (WA) in the Washington state championship. Deal scored in the first overtime after Bellevue tied the game late in the fourth. For the game he had two goals and one assist but it was that second goal which he will always be remembered for. Ryan Deal is the Walax.com Player of the week

Ian Hare, Midfield, La Costa Canyon (CA)
When the Mavericks needed a timely goal it seemed like the senior midfielder was always there to provide one. La Costa Canyon defeated Torrey Pines for the San Diego Section championship 12-6 in large part to Hare's four goals.

Jack Bodine, Attack, St. Ignatius (CA)
Bodine had four goals for the Wildcats, including three in the first half, to help his squad to a 16-10 win over Bellarmine. The Wildcats captured the inaugural West Catholic Athletic League championship behind the junior's finishing ability.
