Players of the Week - Western Region, June 7

By Brett Manney

This week we look at an up-and-coming goalie in Oregon, a Midwest attacker stepping up under pressure, and a Minnesota player outperforming his more acclaimed teammate.

Max Dickenson, Goalie, Lincoln (OR)
The junior goaltender outdueled arguably the best goalie in the state, propelling the Cardinals to their second state championship in the past three years. In the thrilling 10-9 double-overtime win, Dickenson stopped 17 shots and will be one of the best net-minders in the state next year as a member of Lincoln's asecending program.

Ryan Butts, Attack, Benilde St. Margaret (MN)
Recently tabbed 'Mr. Lacrosse in Minnesota', Bailey Dodds, usually gets most of the attention, but Butts was outstanding in the Knights 13-3 win over previously unbeaten Blake. The unsung hero had five points on three goals, and two assists, leading the Knights to a Section 5 championship.

Ben Barry, Attack, Wheaton North (IL)
On the state's biggest stage, there was no one on the field who shined brighter than attackman Ben Barry. In the Illinois Division B Lacrosse Cup championship Barry tallied an astonishing 13 points on eight goals and five assists leading his squad to a 13-8 victory over Glenbard West.
