Kelly Kasper Joins Richmond Women's Lacrosse Staff

University of Richmond head lacrosse coach Stephy Samaras announced the hiring of former University of Maryland lacrosse standout Kelly Kasper as an assistant coach for the Spiders.

"I'm so excited to have Kelly join our lacrosse program," said Samaras. "She's already transitioning her skills as a player into her coaching style. She'll be working with our team's offense to make it more dynamic. We can't wait for her to get started."

Kasper comes from George Mason University, where she was an assistant under Lauren Rywak for two seasons.

Kasper was a four-year starter at midfield for the Terrapins and ended her senior campaign as a finalist for the prestigious Tewaaraton and Honda Awards.

The Eldersburg, Md. native was a three-time All-American as well as a three-time All ACC selection during her four years at Maryland. Kasper also earned ACC All Tournament recognition in 2005 and 2008. Kasper gained international playing experience as a member of the US Women's Lacrosse Developmental team in 2005-06.

In addition to her playing experience, Kasper served as an administrator at the Run-Gun Camp and was an elite club level assistant coach. Kasper also was a counselor for Elevate Lacrosse, C2 Lacrosse, Checkers, LB3 Lacrosse, NBC Lacrosse and US Lacrosse.

Kasper earned her bachelor's degree in family sciences from the University of Maryland in 2008.
