La Salle rising senior midfielder Zack Jones has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Towson University. Jones was second-team All-Catholic League pick this year while helping the Explorers reach the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association championship game. Jones, who is undecided on a major, plays club lacrosse for LB3.

"In the fall I got a letter from Towson and I had always been interested in the school," he said. "I went down for Junior Invitation Day and watched them play and hung out with the coaches. I talked to some of the kids on the team and it seemed like a good fit."

Jones recovered well from a fractured kneecap, which he sustained in the fall. He was one of many new faces that helped a young La Salle team reach the state finals where they fell to Conestoga, 10-6. La Salle entered the year as the two-time defending state champion, but had lost a number of Division I recruits and four All-Americans.

"It was tough to lose, but I can't complain because I have played high school lacrosse for three years we've been to three state championship games," Jones said. "I think we'll be really strong again next year and can go for another state championship."

Jones is the third La Salle rising senior to commit to a Division I college, joining attackman Kevin Forster (Maryland) and midfielder Jack Bogorowski (Johns Hopkins).
