FCA Wins Second Straight US Lacrosse Championship

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) dominated play to win its second straight US Lacrosse Boys' U-15 National Championship. FCA scored the first 14 goals of the game and went on to defeat For the Love of the Game (FTLG) (N.Y.) 17-4 in a rematch of last year's championship game.

FCA scored three goals early in the first quarter and then closed the quarter with five goals in a span of just 3:42 to take an 8-0 lead and command of the game. FCA stretched it to 14-0 until FTLG finally got on the board on a goal by Kieran Byrnes with 31 seconds remaining in the half.

Riley Peters led FCA's attack with four goals and they got help from Trevor Hudgins and Ryan Lukocovic with three goals each. Byrnes led FTLG with two goals.

It was a tough end to the tournament for FTLG, which had rallied with two goals in the final 13 seconds to wins its quarterfinal game 9-8 over Greene Turtle (Md.) on Wednesday and then scored with just two seconds remaining in a wild 9-8 semifinal victory over top-seeded Nor Cal on Thursday morning. Tim McDonagh scored the game-winner in both of those victories.

FCA finished the tournament going a perfect 7-0, including an 11-7 win over NESLL (Mass.) Black in the semifinals on Thursday morning. Jake Stevens scored four goals and Danny Fowler made 12 saves in that victory for FCA.
