Photos: Team USA Championship Victory over Canada

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND -- Team USA awoke from a third-quarter slumber, when they were held scoreless, to defeat Canada 12-10 to win the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championship on Saturday at the University of Manchester. The world title is the 9th for Team USA.

The USA held an 8-4 advantage at the half, but Team Canada scored the only four goals of the third period to tie the match. A Zack Greer goal three minutes into the final quarter gave the Canadians their first lead, 9-8. After Brendan Mundorf knotted the game with just over 12 minutes remaining, John Grant, Jr. scored his third goal of the contest to put Canada back in control, 10-9, with 10 minutes to go.

Ned Crotty proved to be the difference late, scoring twice to put Team USA up 11-10 at the 5:00 mark. The Americans played keep-away for much of the remainder of the game, and Mike Leveille tallied an empty-net insurance goal to make the final score 12-10.
