National Online Lacrosse Tournament: Quarterfinals

The Elite 8 round of LaxPower's National Online Lacrosse Tournament features four games against teams from the hotbeds of the sport. Teams were seeded by power rating on an S-curve to create tournament brackets and winners were determined based on votes from a panel of LaxPower experts and the LaxPower Power Rankings.

The winners from this round move on, and the final four of the NOLT will be unveiled next Monday. Check back to see how your favorite team does in high school lacrosse's virtual national tournament!

Get caught up by viewing the original bracket and the first-round, second-round, and Sweet 16 results.

Determining the Winners

Winners are determined based on votes from LaxPower's panel and by using the LaxPower computer Power Ratings (PR) as the fifth vote. The computer ratings were employed in creating a probability function such that the larger Team A's PR differential vs. Team B, the greater the odds that they would win when a small group of random numbers was generated. This means that the computer may pick an underdog and that upsets are possible.

Tournament Schedule

Results of the NOLT will be posted according to the following schedule:

Round 1: Monday, July 26
Round 2: Wednesday, July 28
Round 3: Monday, August 2
Quarterfinals: Wednesday, August 4
Semifinals: Monday, August 9
Championship: Wednesday, August 11

Philadelphia Bracket

(1) West Islip (NY) 99.92 vs. (3) St. Anthony's (NY) 99.63
  • BM: This matchup intrigues me very much because of the talent on both sides, but West Islip beats their second straight Catholic school from Nassau County, 12-9. Pick: West Islip

  • RR: The best Catholic team vs. the best public team on Long Island. By season's end, West Islip was the most dominant team in the country, and they continue that trend. Nicky Galasso goes off in this game, and the Lions upend the Friars in a battle between two powerhouse programs. Pick: West Islip

  • GB: Pick: West Islip

  • MX: It's the Elite 8, and West Islip is showing just how elite they are. Lions over Friars by 7. Pick: West Islip

  • Computer: Pick: West Islip

  • Winner: West Islip

New York Bracket

(1) Manhasset (NY) 99.89 vs. (2) Jamesville-DeWitt (NY) 99.67
  • BM: I am a big believer in the ability of this year's Jamesville-DeWitt squad to overcome adversity, and I think they take down Manhasset in overtime, 12-11. Pick: Jamesville-DeWitt

  • RR: Everyone in New York would love to see this matchup. Manhasset is tough, but I'm going with JD. The Red Rams overcame the loss of James Bratek to win the state title. With him back in the line up, JD is near unstoppable. Pick: Jamesville-DeWitt

  • GB: Pick: Manhasset

  • MX: WOW! 20-0 vs. 22-0. It's Moroney, Cook, and company vs. Distefano and a very stingy defense. Again, a great matchup. I like the Island Boys in this one, 9-7. Pick: Manhasset

  • Computer: Pick: Jamesville-DeWitt

  • Winner: Jamesville-DeWitt
